2008
Welcome to Wilderness Dance Camp, the season is full of exciting classes and
new friendships to be made.
Summer 2008
marks the 12th year of Wilderness Dance Camp. Each summer has
been better than the last! Each summer dancers arrive from across the U.S.
and Europe to focus on what they love “to dance”. Many of the friendships
made at camp have opened up opportunities for dancer to study in other
states and countries. Our original campers are now returning to camp as
counselors and teachers. The best part of dance camp is seeing each dancer
attain goals they thought impossible in a week and watching them mature as
they return to camp each summer.
Camp Location 2008 -
Shattuck-St. Mary School, Faribault, MN
a 6th -12th grade boarding school with an emphasis in
arts education and sports. The campus is beautifully wooded and looks like

theatres, and dance studio areas. Housing is two dancers per room with a
common bathroom on each floor. All meals are served on campus in one of two
dining rooms. Chaperones are provided for all dancers. Dancers in groups
of 10 or more may choose to provide their own chaperone, chaperone to be
approved by camp director. Dancers may also choose to attend camp as a day
camp returning home each evening. Evening activities include movies, pool,

SEVERE WEATHER
Shattuck-St. Mary School is located in Rice County; we will notify each
family if the storm has affected camp in any way. “No news is good news,
when it comes to camp.”
CELL PHONES AND OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICES
At Wilderness Dance Camp we are giving our dancers and staff the gift of
unplugging for a few days and concentrating on what they love; “dance” with
the added bonus of making new friends. In our experience the use of cell
phones and personal electronic devices severely limits the process of
meeting new people, making new friends and actively participating in camp
activities. We are also teaching them independence and to resolve issues
with the help of other supportive adults who will immediately resolve all
issues – lowering homesickness as they will connect to the camp experience.
'No news is good news, when it comes to camp".
We rent our facilities therefore we do not have a dedicated phone or
internet lines. Phone calls in and out of camp are limited to medical
emergencies. During camp the camp office number 952-884-6009 rings to a
cell phone voicemail. Voicemail is checked each evening at 7pm and all
calls are returned by noon the following day. Please make sure to leave a
call back number with each message. You will receive an email recapping the
day’s events. If you have any concerns with this policy contact the camp
office prior to registration.
Note: Dancers using public transportation to arrive at camp are encourage
to have their cell phone for safety during travel and to contact parents of
